About the job
Eurofins is seeking a senior specialist to lead the establishment of a new fingerprint examination laboratory in Maastricht. This role involves selecting equipment, developing methods, and implementing quality systems. You will contribute to criminal investigations in a scientifically driven environment.
What you will do
- Lead establishment of a new fingerprint examination laboratory
- Select, implement, and optimise laboratory equipment and consumables
- Develop, validate, and introduce fingerprint development methods
- Establish laboratory procedures, workflows, validation protocols, and quality documentation
- Support implementation of ISO/IEC 17025-compliant quality systems
- Examine evidential items for friction ridge detail using enhancement techniques
What you bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Forensic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline
- Demonstrable experience in fingerprint examination or latent print development
- Experience with method validation and quality management systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
Nice to have
- Experience in establishing or expanding forensic laboratory capabilities
- Experience working within ISO/IEC 17025 accredited environments
- Experience as a technical lead or subject matter expert
- Knowledge of fingerprint comparison methodologies and reporting practices
- Experience with digital imaging and fingerprint enhancement techniques
- Dutch language skills
