About the job

Fiducial is looking for a Flight Operations Engineer/UAV Pilot to join their team in Delft. You will pilot UAV platforms in test and field environments while ensuring they are flight-ready through maintenance and system checks. This role involves close collaboration with hardware and autonomy systems.

What you will do

  • Pilot and operate UAV platforms in test and field environments
  • Ensure platforms are flight-ready through pre-flight, post-flight, and maintenance routines
  • Perform system checks on airframes, propulsion, power, RC links, telemetry, payloads, and onboard compute
  • Develop and debug interface between flight controllers and autonomy stack
  • Work with embedded Linux systems, debug system-level issues, and optimize configurations
  • Lead hardware integration, design mounting solutions, route wiring, and prototype parts

What you bring

  • Real experience flying UAVs, RC aircraft, or FPV systems
  • Comfortable debugging embedded Linux systems and flight controller communications
  • Driver's license
  • Drone pilot license or ready to acquire one
  • Education in Aerospace, Robotics, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Engineering
  • Linux basics and English proficiency

Nice to have

  • Deep hands-on experience with ArduPilot and Betaflight
  • Experience with Holybro, Pixhawk-based systems, ESCs, telemetry radios
  • Ability to compile and debug C++ for ARM64 embedded platforms
  • Understanding of robotics fundamentals: kinematics, control theory, sensor fusion
  • Strong electronics skills: reading schematics, soldering, using multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Experience building UAV platforms from scratch
