About the job

Banyan Software is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to work remotely. In this role, you will embed with application teams to modernize applications to AWS cloud-native architectures and drive the adoption of AI-assisted software development practices.

What you will do

  • Embed with application teams to modernize applications to AWS cloud-native architectures
  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted software development practices and tools
  • Build trust with teams, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions
  • Contribute code for scaffolding, CI/CD, IaC, and integration challenges
  • Provide feedback to central engineering on tool and process improvements
  • Ensure teams follow engineering standards like Twelve-Factor App and DevSecOps

What you bring

  • 5+ years of progressive software engineering experience
  • Full-stack proficiency with expert knowledge in Python, TypeScript, C#, or Java
  • Deep experience with AWS cloud-native and Terraform IaC
  • Proven ability to onboard rapidly and drive change without formal authority
  • Hands-on mastery of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
  • Solid understanding of microservices, serverless, event-driven architecture, and DDD

Nice to have

  • Prior consulting, Staff Engineer, or Forward Deployed role experience
  • Experience training or mentoring engineers in new technologies
  • Hands-on experience with React, NextJS, or similar UI frameworks
  • Experience with AI-assisted coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS Lambda
