About the job
Polarsteps is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to own the day-to-day operations of its AWS stack in Amsterdam. You will spot bottlenecks, improve observability, and lead security initiatives.
What you will do
- Own day-to-day operations of AWS stack including S3 and PostgreSQL databases
- Spot bottlenecks in architecture and scaling for users and developer experience
- Review, improve and maintain observability, monitoring and alerting
- Manage and respond to incidents and keep infrastructure documentation up to date
- Strengthen platform security and privacy alongside external security lead
- Lead initiatives like rolling out company-wide SSO and managing VPN
What you bring
- 5+ years as DevOps Engineer, SRE or Platform Engineer
- Experience automating infrastructure and processes on AWS
- Fluency in shell scripting, Python and Terraform or OpenTofu
- Experience monitoring, troubleshooting and scaling a similar stack under growing load
- Comfort making changes to backend code when automation calls for it
- Pragmatic mindset and clear communication with technical and non-technical people
Nice to have
- Experience with Nix
- Experience with Kubernetes, ArgoCD or ECS
- Experience with RabbitMQ
- Experience with TypeScript on the frontend
