Xebia is looking for a Senior Scala software engineer to join their team in Amsterdam. In this hybrid role, you will design and implement JVM libraries and migrate services onto a new abstraction layer. You'll contribute to architecture decisions and code quality for a long-term media platform.

What you will do

  • Translate product and architecture requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans
  • Design and implement provider-agnostic JVM libraries in Scala for uploads and URL generation
  • Migrate services onto a new abstraction layer with backward compatibility and zero user impact
  • Ship robust, well-tested code following industry best practices and existing architecture patterns
  • Contribute to architecture reviews, code reviews, and long-term media platform decisions

What you bring

  • 6+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems
  • Strong JVM background, Scala highly preferred
  • Solid grasp of microservices and event-driven design and inter-service communication
  • Comfortable running services in AWS or GCP with production SLAs
  • DevOps mindset: CI/CD, deployment automation, IaC familiarity
