About the job

Monumental is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team in Amsterdam, focusing on autonomy and robotics. In this role, you will design and implement controls and localization algorithms for complex robotic systems, taking full ownership of projects from concept to completion.

What you will do

Design and implement controls algorithms in C, C++, Rust, or Python
Design and implement localization algorithms like visual-inertial SLAM
Build debugging and performance evaluation tools
Apply software engineering best practices to production code
Conduct root cause analysis and debugging
Take full ownership of projects from idea to completion

What you bring

Experience with calibration, motion control, and path planning for complex robotic systems
Knowledge of modelling, signal processing, motion planning, sensor fusion, collision avoidance
Industry experience deploying production systems in C, C++, Python, Rust, or similar languages
Software engineering skills including git, unit tests, and automated deployment
Basic familiarity with Linux systems and SSH
B.Sc. in Computer Science, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Controls System Engineering, or equivalent

Nice to have

Experience building prototypes in a zero-to-one environment or top student teams
