Telnyx is looking for an Elixir Engineer to build and operate backend services for real-time communications and Voice SDK. This remote role focuses on improving reliability, scalability, and observability of customer-facing systems.

What you will do

Design, build, and operate Elixir services for real-time communications and Voice SDK
Own backend systems for authentication, token issuance, push notifications, connection proxying, routing, and diagnostics
Improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability of customer-facing services
Strengthen connection setup, authentication flows, session handling, and service behavior
Build observability with logs, metrics, dashboards, alerts, and operational tooling
Diagnose production issues across application, networking, and client connectivity boundaries

What you bring

Production experience with Elixir or Erlang and BEAM services
Experience with high-load, high-throughput backend systems
Experience with persistent connections like WebSockets or Phoenix Channels
Experience building or operating authentication, token, or session services
Experience with distributed systems and service-oriented architectures
Experience with Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, and modern production infrastructure

Nice to have

Experience with push notification infrastructure such as APNs or FCM
Experience with DNS, edge routing, service discovery, or globally distributed systems
Experience building internal diagnostic, observability, or troubleshooting tools
Experience building backend services consumed by mobile or JavaScript SDKs
Familiarity with WebRTC, VoIP, or voice/video communications
Open-source contributions to the BEAM ecosystem
