About the job

ClickHouse is seeking a Core Software Engineer to join their team and contribute to the performance of the core ClickHouse database. This role involves working with the open-source community and collaborating with other teams. The position is remote.

What you will do

  • Contribute to and optimize performance of the core ClickHouse database
  • Extend and add performance tests based on real-world or synthetic datasets
  • Help debug advanced performance issues for customers, including on-call rotation
  • Collaborate with other teams to assess impact of new features on performance and reliability
  • Work with the open-source community by resolving issues, reviewing PRs, and answering questions

What you bring

  • Solid professional software development experience in C++
  • Experience with Unix systems
  • Strong knowledge in database internals and design
  • Experience in performance engineering
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong problem-solving and production debugging skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with ClickHouse
  • Experience in security, privacy, and compliance
  • Experience with TCP/IP and network programming
  • Experience developing cloud infrastructure services, preferably with Kubernetes
  • Experience giving public talks at technical conferences and meetups
  • Previous contributions to open source projects
