About the job

This role is for an experienced Android engineer who will own major features end to end at Speechify. You will work remotely and lead technical decisions while improving reliability and team processes.

What you will do

Own major features end to end with design team
Maintain and improve reliability metrics
Review pull requests with constructive feedback
Unblock team members stuck on tasks
Standardize shared code and reduce duplication
Run planning to focus team on decisions

What you bring

5+ years software engineering experience
Hands-on team lead or major surface owner
Expert in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, JUnit tests
Experience shipping background audio or long-running background work
Understanding of testing and its limits
Ability to drive lasting team changes

Nice to have

Open source Android project contributions
Experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS
