Fairphone B.V. in Amsterdam is looking for a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer to strengthen their team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining test automation suites and integrating them into their development workflows. You will collaborate closely with product and design teams to ensure high-quality releases.
What you will do
- Plan, build, and maintain end-to-end test automation suites using Playwright with Python
- Integrate automated testing into GitHub Actions for pre-deployment quality gates and weekly bug-detection scripts
- Partner with Product Owners and UX Designers during Jira refinement to define acceptance criteria and edge cases
- Establish bug severity rules, manage staging improvements, and own go/no-go release decisions
- Design and execute manual test plans for cross-device/browser compatibility, usability, and performance
- Enforce quality standards, challenge user stories and pull requests, and advise on Definition of Done
What you bring
- Minimum 3+ years in Software Quality Assurance with focus on web application test automation
- Hands-on experience setting up automation frameworks from scratch using Playwright (Python bindings preferred) or Cypress
- Practical experience configuring automated quality pipelines in CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions
- Experience with or eagerness to explore AI-assisted testing and development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
- Strong background in Agile Scrum with proven success in critical thinking, edge-case discovery, and acceptance criteria writing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; comfortable handling multiple projects

- Experience with Python-based backends or platforms like Odoo
