About the job

Equinix is looking for a Senior Controls Engineer to join their team in Amsterdam, focusing on the configuration, validation, and optimization of critical infrastructure systems. In this role, you will work with BMS and DCIM platforms, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of data center operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues and support commissioning activities.

What you will do

  • Configure, onboard and validate assets, alarms and monitoring points in BMS and DCIM platforms
  • Support implementation and validation of power circuit monitoring in BCM systems
  • Review and maintain electrical hierarchies using one-line diagrams and schematics
  • Validate and optimize infrastructure performance metrics like PUE and WUE
  • Investigate and resolve complex data quality, integration, communication and controls issues
  • Participate in commissioning, startup, testing and validation for controls deployments

What you bring

  • Extensive experience in controls engineering, building automation, industrial controls or critical facilities
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across field devices, controllers, network components and supervisory systems
  • Knowledge of controls systems for electrical, HVAC, fire protection and critical infrastructure
  • Experience with BACnet, Modbus and OPC protocols
  • Familiarity with Schneider Electric PLCs and AVEVA System Platform
  • Fluent Dutch and English, written and spoken

Nice to have

  • Experience in data centres, critical facilities, industrial manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors or similar
  • Exposure to commissioning, startup activities, functional testing or site acceptance testing
  • Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring or acting as controls subject matter expert
