Internship- Mechanical Design & Integration

About the job

Fiducial offers a hands-on internship where you design and build the mechanical structure for a robotic test cell. You will take full ownership of a self-contained system, from concept through assembly and documentation.

What you will do

• Design structural base and frame for robotic arm and linear rail
• Design modular payload interface for quick-change mounts
• Design fixturing for target and item under test presentation
• Make cell mobile without losing geometry
• Manage vibration, cabling, and safety
• Build, source, assemble, measure, and document hardware

What you bring

• Enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, Aerospace, Robotics, or similar
• Fluent in CAD
• Think in tolerances, stiffness, and error budgets
• Built physical things and experienced failures
• Comfortable with workshop tools
• Basic Linux skills

Nice to have

• Precision mechanism or metrology experience
• Linear motion experience
• FEA (static and modal)
• Machining or sheet-metal design experience
• Vibration measurement and damping
• Basic Python
