About the job

Planet in Haarlem is looking for a Data Scientist to develop algorithms and machine learning models for satellite imagery time series. You will take research topics from exploration to production and co-own the markers codebase with the team.

What you will do

  • Develop algorithms and machine learning models for satellite imagery time series
  • Take research topics from exploration to production
  • Own marker results for production deliveries to EU countries
  • Explore embeddings-based insight extraction for new areas
  • Use AI agents in daily work and help team improve
  • Co-own the markers codebase with the team

What you bring

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, data science, or another STEM field
  • Understanding of machine learning principles and model validation
  • Proficiency in Python with maintainable code
  • Experience with AI agents and modern ML tools
  • Experience with version control and Git

Nice to have

  • Experience with embeddings or learned representations of imagery
  • Remote sensing expertise with satellite time series
  • Experience processing radar data like Sentinel-1
  • Familiarity with agriculture or EU Common Agricultural Policy
  • Experience with cloud environments and distributed computing
