OpenFX, a fast-growing company in the global payments space, is looking for a Commercial Legal Counsel to join their Amsterdam team. In this role, you will own the full commercial contracting lifecycle for global customer relationships and help build the legal infrastructure for a rapidly scaling business. You will work closely with regulatory, compliance, product, and go-to-market teams to drive deals forward.
What you will do
- Own the full commercial contracting lifecycle for global customer relationships
- Build and maintain the commercial legal playbook including templates, fallback positions, approval thresholds, and escalation paths
- Create systems and processes for AI-driven contract review and reusable AI workflows
- Advise on deal structure, pricing, fee terms, service levels, liability, indemnity, and settlement mechanics
- Partner with regulatory Legal, Compliance, and Product on contract terms and customer documentation
- Serve as lead counsel advising the global Go to Market team
What you bring
- 10+ years of legal experience with substantial time in commercial roles and fintech, payments, or financial services
- General knowledge of regulatory frameworks for cross-border payments and digital assets
- Outstanding analytical and communication skills
- Comfort with ambiguity and creative problem-solving
- Bias for action and ability to excel in fast-paced environment
- J.D. or equivalent with active bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

- Experience as an early hire standing up a commercial legal function from scratch
