OpenFX is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its team in London, advising on the legal and regulatory aspects of product design and market entry across the EU and UK. This role offers the chance to work at the forefront of fintech innovation, supporting corporate legal matters and serving as a strategic business partner to leadership.
What you will do
- Advise product and engineering teams on legal and regulatory aspects of product design, development, and launch
- Develop and execute licensing and market entry strategies across EU and UK
- Provide regulatory guidance on payments, cryptocurrency, foreign exchange, and cross-border transactions
- Support corporate legal matters including governance, employment, privacy, intellectual property, and fundraising
- Serve as strategic business partner to leadership and cross-functional teams
- Manage external counsel and build scalable legal processes
What you bring
- 7+ years of legal working experience
- Excellent academic credentials and traineeship at a top-tier law firm
- Experience advising fintechs or financial institutions
- Strong knowledge of financial services regulations including MiCAR, PSD2, EMD, Dutch Financial Supervision Act, and AML legislation
- Proven ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
- Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
Nice to have
- Knowledge and experience with cryptocurrency or Banking as a Service products
- Startup or high-growth company experience
- Significant experience with international regulatory regimes and cross-border transactions
