About the job
Optics11 is looking for a Mechanical Development Engineer to join their team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will develop hydrophone sensor subsystems from concept through production, working with multidisciplinary teams to translate requirements into robust engineering solutions.
What you will do
- Develop hydrophone sensor subsystem throughout product lifecycle
- Translate requirements into engineering solutions
- Produce mechanical designs, drawings, and documentation
- Develop prototypes and support integration and testing
- Perform engineering analysis and validation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
What you bring
- BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field
- 2–5 years experience in precision mechanical design or product development
- Experience with CAD (SolidWorks or equivalent) and analysis tools (Comsol or ANSYS)
- Understanding of materials, sealing, and mechanical design principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Nice to have
- Experience with Python or similar scripting tools
- Experience with fiber-optic sensors, underwater systems, or precision instrumentation
- Familiarity with engineering testing, prototype development, or product verification
