Brunswick is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Amsterdam team. In this hybrid role, you will define the long-term technical vision for complex systems and mentor senior engineers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

What you will do

  • Define long-term technical vision and architecture for complex systems
  • Design, implement, and enhance software or firmware features
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine requirements and deliver solutions
  • Develop software for microcontroller and processor-based systems
  • Mentor senior engineers and cultivate a high-performing engineering culture
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with technical leadership
  • Deep expertise in software architecture, design patterns, and system scalability
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills with tools like JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers
  • Experience overseeing full software delivery lifecycle including deployment and monitoring
  • Strong understanding of communication protocols: UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, BLE

Nice to have

  • Strong programming skills in C/C++
  • Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M architectures
  • Understanding of low-power and battery-operated embedded system design
  • Familiarity with embedded security, bootloaders, and firmware update mechanisms
  • Recognized as a thought leader in the software engineering community
  • Prior experience with embedded real-time operating systems like FreeRTOS or Zephyr
