Checkout.com is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to drive the technical direction and strategy for its Experimentation and Optimisation platform. In this role, you will collaborate with Data Science, Platform, and ML Engineering teams while coaching engineers solving distributed systems challenges in Go.
What you will do
- Drive long-term technical direction and strategy for the Experimentation and Optimisation platform
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Science, Platform and ML Engineering teams
- Act as coach and mentor to engineering teams solving distributed systems challenges in Go
- Identify opportunities to elevate engineering standards within the pillar
- Translate requirements and architecture initiatives into actionable engineering roadmaps
- Serve as role model for engineering excellence in code, architecture and operational excellence
What you bring
- Technical leadership experience in setting direction and influencing across teams
- Hands-on experience building and scaling cloud-based distributed systems, mainly AWS
- Excellent programming skills in Go with deep understanding of concurrent and low-latency architectures
- Proven track record implementing and scaling experimentation systems or similar data-intensive backend systems
- Ability to raise engineering standards through coaching and mentorship
- Strong presentation and collaboration skills to articulate complex technical concepts
Nice to have
- Experience with adaptive experimentation ML such as contextual bandits, Bayesian optimization or RL-based allocation
