At Autotaalglas the work often starts with a customer who shows up with glass damage.
A service technician repairs that damage or replaces the car window, carefully and according to professional standards. After that, the customer must be able to continue safely. That requires precise work in the workshop, but also someone who calmly explains what is happening and takes the customer seriously.
Jeff Hendriks, franchisee of Autotaalglas Arnhem, had trouble finding service technicians who could handle both sides of the job. Just collecting responses did not solve that. He was looking for people who are technically skilled and work customer-oriented.
Making the position concrete for the right people
It started with an intake. What should someone be able to do on the first day at work, what can be learned internally, how important is customer contact, and in which region are we looking? For Autotaalglas, the core was clear: technically skilled and customer-oriented.
Then we pulled out all the stops. With a multichannel approach, we reached the right people in the right region, with the right platform choice per target group. We do not wait until someone searches for a vacancy site on their own. We go further where others stop.
Even more important is what people get to see. The campaign texts emphasized the work itself: repairing and replacing car windows for various car brands, with a variety of tasks and attention to customer satisfaction. They also showed what a new colleague can learn: internal training, development opportunities, and room for personal initiative.

In two months, 52 candidates responded to the campaign. This led to five filled positions for service engineers.
Five new colleagues means a larger team: more hands in the workshop and more people who can assist customers with windshield damage.
