About the job

Datasnipper is looking for a Senior Applied AI Engineer to own the agent runtime, from system prompts to memory and state management. You will design how agents interact with tools and implement advanced agentic patterns. This role is based in Amsterdam with a hybrid work model.

What you will do

  • Own base agents including system prompt, context engineering, memory and state management
  • Design how agents use tool layer such as document extraction, retrieval, sandboxes, and MCP integrations
  • Implement agentic patterns like sub-agent composition, planning modes, human-in-the-loop gates, and model routing
  • Ship end-to-end from prototype through evaluation to production
  • Define and build automatic processes for continuous agent improvement
  • Extract signal from long agent trajectories and classify failure modes

What you bring

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with production-grade Python
  • Experience shipping and operating an LLM-powered product in production
  • Hands-on experience building agentic systems including control loops and tool selection
  • Experience with evaluation including building datasets and running experiments
  • Fluency with LLM APIs and agent frameworks across multiple model providers
  • Proficient with AI-assisted engineering and coding agents

Nice to have

  • Experience with durable workflow engines or long-running background task systems
  • Experience with RAG and retrieval pipelines over large document corpora
  • Document AI including VLMs, OCR, structured extraction
  • Sandboxed code execution, MCP, or multi-agent orchestration in production
  • Domain experience in audit, accounting or fintech
  • Familiarity with OWASP GenAI security practices and regulated environments
